OrganizationBorutoKara

Jiraiya's face, but not his soul. Kashin Koji is an artificial clone of the Sannin, created by Amado from his DNA — the real Jiraiya, for his part, has been dead since Shippuden. Officially an Inner member of Kara, he is in fact its mole, with a single mission. His toads from Mount Myoboku, his Rasengan, and his perfectly balanced Sage Mode lead up to his defining feat: natural flames, without chakra, that the Karma cannot absorb. And a name borrowed from a legend.

Jiraiya's face, but not his soul: Kashin Koji is a clone of the Sannin, created in secret to carry out a single mission. A mole at the heart of Kara, he is the weapon of Amado against a god.

A Clone of Jiraiya

Kashin Koji is an artificial clone of Jiraiya, created by the scientist Amado from a DNA sample taken from the Sannin. The reveal comes in the Boruto manga, straight from Isshiki's mouth.

Physically, he is the spitting image of Jiraiya "in his prime": the same marks under the eyes, the same beauty mark on the nose, but without the wrinkles and with straight hair. He is not the real Jiraiya, who died long before Boruto against Nagato.

With his mask removed, Koji shows the face of a young Jiraiya: it is the Sannin's DNA that was used to create him.

Amado's Mole

On the surface, Koji is an "Inner" member of Kara, in charge of a sector on the outskirts of the Land of Fire. In reality, he is a mole.

Amado created him as a secret plan to eliminate Isshiki, after Jigen blocked his cyborg project. The gamble: Jiraiya's fighting spirit would push Isshiki into revealing his true form, and therefore into exposing himself.

On the surface, Koji wears the uniform of the Inners and speaks as an equal with the other members of Kara.

The Sannin's Arsenal

Koji inherits Jiraiya's techniques: the toad summons of Mount Myoboku, the Rasengan, and a Sage Mode mastered in perfect balance, which he uses to stand up to Isshiki.

His offensive signature is fire: the "Samadhi True Fire", a remote combustion triggered through a medium such as a kunai or a small toad.

The Flames That Kill Jigen

To kill Jigen, Koji could not use an ordinary ninjutsu: the Karma absorbs chakra. His solution is brilliant — to summon, through a ritual circle, natural flames that are eternal, drawn from a mountain in perpetual combustion.

These chakra-free flames cannot be absorbed. Jigen's body burns, which forces Isshiki to resurrect in an imperfect human body with a severely shortened lifespan — setting up his downfall against Naruto.

Fire is Koji's offensive signature, and the only weapon able to get around the Karma's absorption.

A Name Borrowed From a Legend

The name "Kashin Koji" is no accident: it takes that of a legendary illusionist and wandering monk of 16th-century Japanese folklore, famous for his magic tricks.

Legend has him perform before warlords, and his historical existence remains uncertain. A perfect nod for a character who is himself a master of trickery, fire, and summoning.

Boruto's Mentor

After the Two Blue Vortex time skip, Koji reappears as a mentor and ally of Boruto. He then possesses a power of precognition, coming from Otsutsuki DNA that Amado implanted in him.

Since the series is still ongoing, his final fate remains open: Amado ends up triggering a shutdown code to recover that power, without it being clear whether this amounts to a real death.

FAQ

  • Is Kashin Koji the real Jiraiya brought back to life?
No. He is an artificial clone created by Amado from Jiraiya's DNA. The real Jiraiya died in Shippuden, against Nagato, long before Boruto. Koji resembles him and shares his techniques, but he is a separate individual — younger, with straight hair, no wrinkles, with the beauty mark on the nose and the marks under the eyes.
  • Why did Amado create Koji?
As a secret plan to eliminate Isshiki. After Jigen blocked his "Outers" cyborg project, Amado placed this mole inside Kara, betting that Jiraiya's fighting spirit would push Isshiki into revealing his true form — and therefore into exposing himself.
  • How did Koji kill Jigen if the Karma absorbs techniques?
By not using a ninjutsu, but by summoning, through a ritual circle, natural and eternal flames drawn from a mountain in perpetual combustion. The Karma only absorbs chakra: these chakra-free flames therefore consumed Jigen's body, forcing Isshiki to resurrect in an imperfect human body with a severely shortened lifespan.
  • Where does the name "Kashin Koji" come from?
From a legendary illusionist and wandering monk of 16th-century Japanese folklore, famous for his illusion tricks, whom legend has performing before warlords. His historical existence remains uncertain. Boruto takes up this name for a character who is himself a master of trickery, fire, and summoning.
  • Is Koji dead? What is his fate?
In Two Blue Vortex, Amado triggers a shutdown code that deactivates his body, in order to recover his power of precognition. With the series still ongoing, his final fate — a real death or a possible return — remains uncertain.

In summary

Kashin Koji is Jiraiya's ghost in the service of a plan the Sannin himself would never have imagined: bringing down a god through fire and cunning. Clone or heir, mole or mentor, he wears the face of a legend — and proves that, even in death, Jiraiya still weighs on the fate of the ninja world.
