Shibai Otsutsuki is the name Boruto places at the summit of the clan. Amado describes him as an Otsutsuki who is said to have devoured enough Chakra Fruits to move beyond the condition of his bloodline, then abandon his body. His remains account for part of Kara's powers.

What We Know About Him
Shibai Otsutsuki enters the story sideways. His name comes up in chapter 75 of the Boruto manga, published in late 2022, spoken by Amado, the scientist who crossed over from Kara to the side of Konoha. No fight, no line of dialogue, no dated scene: for now the character exists only inside an explanation. The artwork gives him only as a silhouette, a slender figure with long hair and curved horns.
His path fits into a simple loop, repeated on an outsized scale. An Otsutsuki takes over a planet, grows a God Tree there that the local life feeds, consumes the Chakra Fruit produced at the end of the process, then leaves for another world. The clan members encountered so far complete this cycle only a limited number of times. Shibai is said to have started it over for millennia, relaunching himself after each death thanks to the Karma.
The accumulation is said to have ended up changing his very nature. Amado describes a being who no longer formed any hand signs: he unleashed storms with a movement of the hand and called down lightning with a shout. At the end of these successive stages, he is said to have abandoned his body of his own free will to reach a higher plane of existence, beyond the reach of the senses, including for the other members of the clan. Momoshiki, lodged in Boruto's consciousness, confirms this point for his part.

The Clan's Goal
Until then, the Otsutsuki cycle looked like endless predation: sow, harvest, destroy, start over. Shibai gives it a purpose. Isshiki had already put it to Code without naming anyone: devouring a fruit only makes you one more Otsutsuki, you then have to start over planet after planet, until you cross a threshold. The goal, then, is not the harvest. The goal is divinity, and one member of the clan is said to have reached it before all the others.
This reading reorganizes the hierarchy of the series. Isshiki, Momoshiki and Kinshiki stop being sovereign predators and become candidates for a state already obtained by another. Kaguya, who consumed only the fruit of the Earth's God Tree, stands far below what Amado describes. Shibai serves as a ceiling: he sets the theoretical end point of a system the reader believed had no summit.
The chapter brings a second jolt, on the side of techniques. Amado files Shibai's abilities under the term shinjutsu, literally divine arts, and presents ninjutsu as a derived system, a reduced version of those arts. The ninja forms signs, channels, borrows from nature. Shibai commanded nature by intent alone. The entire power scale built up since Naruto thus finds itself placed downstream from a single source.

What Kara Owes Him
Amado came into possession of the physical remains of Shibai. The manga says neither where he found them, nor how, nor how long he has been exploiting them: the silence on this point is total. He took genetic material from them, then implanted it in the beings he designed for the organization.
The beneficiaries bear familiar names. Eida owes her clairvoyance to it, the Senrigan, which lets her see and hear in real time what happens anywhere in the world, and trace past events back to her own birth — no further, and never toward the future. Daemon, her brother, automatically sends back any attack aimed at him, physical as well as mental. Code has marks that he applies and through which he travels. Kashin Koji, for his part, saw a glimpse of possible futures open up only on the threshold of death, after years without manifesting anything.
Amado's admission is the decisive point. He states that he does not know how to create an ability: he only transplants it. The powers that seemed to come out of a laboratory therefore predate him by a very long way. Their appearance in fact owes partly to chance, since the same grafted material does not produce the same result from one subject to another.
A nuance is needed here, because the shortcut is common. Not all of Kara's arsenal descends from Shibai. Delta's body and Boro's regeneration alike fall under Scientific Ninja Tools and bodily modification, and no shinjutsu has been confirmed for them in the story. Shibai's legacy covers a few innate faculties, not the organization's entire equipment.

A Character Still Open-Ended
The available material remains thin. A name, a silhouette, an account a few pages long. Shibai has never acted in front of the reader, speaks not a single sentence and is tied to no precise date. Everything put forward about him goes through the testimony of a third party, in a conversation where that third party is trying to obtain something.
And this witness is a negotiator, accustomed to calculated omissions. The story does place an anomaly in plain view: Momoshiki claims to know every existing shinjutsu, and Eida's power of attraction matches none of them. It is one or the other: either the knowledge of a high-ranking Otsutsuki has holes in it, or part of the explanation delivered by Amado does not hold up. Both options call for reserve.
Whole questions remain. The origin of the remains, the possibility for a bodiless entity to still act on the world, the potential link with the God Trees that occupy the rest of the story. Nothing has been settled. Caution, then: Shibai sheds light on a mechanism of the universe, he is not an announced opponent. Making him the next great enemy is a matter of reader hypothesis, not of the text.

FAQ
-
Does Shibai Otsutsuki really appear in the manga? He is mentioned in chapter 75 of Boruto and shown in silhouette. To date, he has no action scene, no dialogue, no real appearance.
-
How is he said to have become a god?By repeating the cycle of the God Trees and the Chakra Fruits over millennia, while resurrecting himself thanks to Karma. The accumulation is said to have ended up changing his nature.
-
What is the connection between him and the powers of Eida, Daemon, or Code?Amado recovered his remains and grafted his genetic material onto his creations. He specifies that he invents no ability: he only transplants Shibai's own.
-
Is shinjutsu superior to ninjutsu?According to Amado, ninjutsu is a reduced version of shinjutsu, which is its source. Shibai acted without hand signs and without technical support.
-
Do Delta and Boro use shinjutsu?Nothing confirms it. Their known abilities rest on cybernetics and Amado's Scientific Ninja Tools, and the awakening of a grafted shinjutsu remains a matter of chance.
In summary
Shibai Otsutsuki occupies an unusual place: that of a limit rather than a character. He gives a goal to the clan's cycle, an origin to the techniques, an explanation to powers believed to be artificial. And he fits into a few pages, reported by a single witness. That is what makes him at once structural and fragile. As long as the manga has not shown him, it is better to read him as a theoretical framework than as an approaching threat.
